Emily BJ Coffey, Ph.D.
I am Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at Concordia University. I received a Ph.D. in Neuroscience in 2016 from McGill University (Prof. Robert Zatorre), an M.Sc. (Research) in Brain and Cognitive Science in 2009 from the University of Amsterdam, and a B.Sc. (Honours) in Psychology from the University of Ottawa in 2006. Between 2006 and 2009 I worked as a Human Behaviour and Performance specialist and trainer at the European Space Agency (European Astronaut Centre, Cologne, Germany), and between 2002 and 2005 I worked as a flight and theory instructor on light aircraft at several airports in Ottawa, Canada. You can find our team’s recent work on my Google Scholar page.
Anne Calvel, Ph.D.
I am a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Concordia University. I obtained a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering in 2024 from the University of Toulouse, France. I have developed expertise in stimulation techniques for health. I am currently investigating the role of sleep spindles and slow oscillations in memory consolidation. My research focuses on the effects of targeted memory reactivation on electrophysiology and behavioral outcomes. For this purpose, I use electroencephalography (EEG) and optically pumped magnetometer – magnetoencephalography (OPM-MEG) neuroimaging techniques.
Keelin Greenlaw
I am a Clinical PhD student at Concordia University, co-supervised by Dr. Chris Steele. I am studying the role of the cerebellum in sleep-dependent memory consolidation of motor sequence learning, and decoding replay in sleep.
Marie-Anick Savard
I am a PhD candidate at Concordia University, co-supervised by Dr. Mickael Deroche, conducting research on misophonia, a disorder marked by intense negative emotional reactions to specific sounds. My work combines a range of neuroscience methods, including physiology, EEG, and fMRI, to investigate the cognitive mechanisms underlying this condition. I am currently funded by a Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada Graduate Scholarship–Doctoral (CGS D) as well as a soQuiet Student Research Grant.
Nathan Gagné
I am a Clinical PhD student at Concordia University and am a NSERC Postgraduate Scholarship recipient. My research focuses on hearing-in-noise perception in degraded listening conditions, older adults, and music-related interventions.
Mary Brooks
I am a Clinical PhD student at Concordia University and am a NSERC Postgraduate Scholarship recipient. My research focuses on the interaction between sleep quality, cognition, and age. More specifically, I am looking at how specific aspects of sleep, such as sleep spindles, affect memory and executive functioning in older adults.
Sofia Simonetto-Rizk
I am a Clinical MA student at Concordia University.
Giulia Panaioli
I am currently a Research Assistant and Lab Manager. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a Specialization from Concordia University and currently work as a Research Assistant on multiple projects related to music, cognition, and sleep. My primary focus is on studying the effects of musicianship and language experience on hearing-in-noise abilities in younger and older adults, using the Music-in-Noise Task (MINT).
Chiara Giacosa, Ph.D.
I am a part-time Research Associate specializing in structural neuroimaging and experience-related neuroplasticity.
Alain Fourmigue, Ph.D.
I am a part-time Research Associate specializing in statistical modeling.
